Iran plans to collaborate in productions with other countries in order to increase its share of the world film market, DEFC official says.

Iran plans to collaborate in productions with other countries in order to increase its share of the world film market, Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) official says.

DEFC director Mohammad–Mehdi Tabatabainejad made the remarks in a press conference on Sunday, while briefing the media about the upcoming 11th Cinema Verite, Iran’s major international festival for documentary cinema.

“Increasing Iran’s share of the world film market and providing the facilities for more joint film productions will offer a new panorama for the cinema of Iran,” said Tabatabainejad, who is also the secretary of Cinema Verite film festival.

He added that the new management of the Cinema Organization of Iran initiated the policy and notified all its satellite institutions.

Over 60 filmmakers, international festival executives and film distributors have been invited to attend the Cinema Verite film festival in Iran this year.

Cinema Verite is scheduled to screen a number of international films, as the festival attaches particular importance to the international section of the festival, Tabatabainejad said.

In the national section, 124 films are scheduled to screen in different categories.

The 11th edition of Cinema Verite will take place in the Iranian capital city of Tehran from December 10-17. The Documentary and Experimental Film Center is the organizer of the festival.
